O Youth, This Nation Miss You


Kami poetera dan poeteri Indonesia, mengakoe bertoempah darah jang satoe, tanah Indonesia.
We are the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one motherland, Indonesia.
Kami poetera dan poeteri Indonesia, mengakoe berbangsa jang satoe, bangsa Indonesia.
We are the sons and daughters of Indonesia, acknowledge one nation, the nation of Indonesia
Kami poetera dan poeteri Indonesia, mendjoendjoeng bahasa persatoean, bahasa Indonesia.
We are the sons and daughters of Indonesia, uphold the language of unity, Indonesian.

The sentences were wrote down around 85 years ago. A powerful pledge which unite this nation, Indonesia. This pledge was spearheaded by the youth organizations from various regions in Indonesia. Jong Java, Jong Ambon, Jong Celebes, Jong Batak, Jong Sumatranen Bond, Jong Islamieten Bond, Sekar Rukun, PPPI, Pemuda Kaum Betawi and many more.

When this nation needs them to descend to the battlefield, they join PETA, Student’s Army, Mobile Cologne, Youth Red Cross, etc. When Indonesia wants to proclaim its independent, the youth generation urge Soekarno and Hatta to accelerate the proclamation. Big demonstration in 1966 after the G30S/PKI rebellion led by the youth. Also, the reformation in May 1998.

Indonesian youngster is actually a though guy, star in all field. Youths who excel in international world. Then, for what we feel inferior and ashamed being Indonesian youngster?

Indonesian youths is a young man who loves the nation and the country. Then, for what we betray and sell our nation’s dignity?

O Youth, where are you? When this nation needs to unified again like 85 years ago. O Youth, when we look forward to you, the successor of this nation, why you destroy your self?

O Youth, this nation miss you.
